The internal architechure of PicLan-IP / Coyote has been extended to make it easier to port to a variety of Unix platforms. As such, the number of supported PicLan-IP / Unix platforms is about to grow dramatically.
The following platforms are now or will soon be available:
D3/AIX |
Universe/AIX Universe/Linux Universe/HP Universe/SCO |
UniData/AIX UniData/Linux UniData/HP UniData/SCO |
Univision/Linux |
This support is available as of the 2.0.0.161 PicLan-IP release.
The underlying technique that allows for this support is the seperation of mv/BASIC application-level code from low-level communication routines that are written in C. In previous PicLan-IP releases, this communication path used C-call functions from within the MultiValue database environment. As of the 2.0.0.161 release, this communication path has been re-implemented to use Unix pipes and MV supported native file I/O statements.
Another benefit of this architechure is that the MV environment no longer must be re-linked in order to use PicLan-IP. PicLan-IP now runs as a pure "application level" database program without requiring any modification to the underlying mvDBMS run-time executable.
PicLan-IP production licenses for all of these mvDBMS platforms are available immediately by calling EasyCo LLC.
